Doco solves 43-year Australian mystery
The truth behind one of Australia’s most infamous mysteries will be revealed in a documentary to air on ABC TV 8.30pm Thursday September 7.
The 1963 deaths of Dr Bogle and Mrs Chandler, whose bodies were found in Sydney’s Lane Cove River Park, have remained unsolved for 43 years.
The discovery of the CSIRO scientist and a colleague’s wife sparked a scandal of sex, drugs and cold war espionage, but the cause of their deaths was never determined.
Who Killed Dr Bogle and Mrs Chandler, a one-hour documentary by filmmaker Peter Butt, looks at what really happened the New Year’s Eve that rocked 60s suburbia.
This is a shameless plug as I had the pleasure of helping out on this Film Australia shoot. Before you ask, no, I don’t know the answer.
Butt managed to recreate the action, court-room and investigation scenes without divulging the secret behind the mystery; not to cast and crew - and certainly not to arm-twisting journo friends.
We’ll all have to wait to find out Who Killed Dr Bogle and Mrs Chandler - Thursday 8.30pm on the ABC.
